The Battle of Saratoga
Who was involved?
British and German soldiers vs. the American soldiers. General John Burgoyne led the British and German Army. General Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold led the Americans. The British had about five thousand troops and the Americans had about thirteen thousand.
Where was it and what happened?
It was fought in Saratoga, New York. Daniel Morgan took his men and attacked the British. They gained and lost land. The Americans almost took the British but then more troops came and the Americans had to retreat. Then they came out and attacked the Americans. They couldn't win because the Americans seemed to be every where. Eventually the British were taken captive and 7,000 of them were dead. Two of them were generals. The Americans only lost 3,500.
What was the impact?
The British lost two of their leaders and about a thousand men. The lose reached the French and they decided to join the Americans. It also made this war a much more global war.
